Ever the beverage innovators, the bar team at THE US GRANT has done it again. This time with something bigger and better than ever before, and completely unexpected—a brand new, standalone bar to be located inside THE US GRANT facing Broadway Ave and Horton Plaza Park. The innovative beverage concept, called Rendezvous, is slated to open to the public on Wednesday, October 31st inside the historic US GRANT hotel.
Marked by a replica of an original 1930s neon sign displayed above the entrance on Broadway, Rendezvous, will pay tribute to the hotel’s namesake Rendezvous, the Wonder Bar (established by the hotel’s prohibition-era owner, Baron Long, in 1933 just after the Cullen–Harrison Act was signed into law by President Roosevelt)—Rendezvous will welcome guests with subtle French nods in decor, music and menu, a social setting with live music (and a custom-built modern gramophone “jukebox”), and of course, cocktail innovation that can only be executed by the creative and talented minds of Jeff Josenhans and Cory Alberto.
Inside, guests will be greeted by subtle French undertones all inspired by the original Rendezvous: vintage decor featuring gold, brass and leather details; large living room style sofas, dimmed lighting, communal tables—embracing the bar’s 1930s reputation as a “place that catered to everybody” with a sense of “genteel authenticity and air of savoir-fare.” For a sense of today—expect contemporary exhibits from local artists to be incorporated. And for that added sense of “savoir-fare”—a roaming, table-side service, Vieux Carre cocktail cart.
The menu will include a tightly curated list of French wines priced at $10 per glass; signature cocktails priced at $10 each; punchbowls, priced in “Petite Bourgeoisie and Grand Bourgeoisie” categories, and a dynamic selection of cask ales. Never one to shy away from “breaking the mold” Beverage Director Jeff Josenhans will also be bringing an unparalleled beverage technology program to Rendezvous—from bespoke ice cutting and shaping, to personalized cocktails using the latest in cocktail tech.

Your fortune awaits as you enter the doors of Rendezvous! Inspired by the French legend and historical figure “La Voisin”, this grand opening event promises an escape from the average Halloween festivities. A signature welcome cocktail will kick-off the evening for partygoers with General Admission, while reserved seating and punch bowl service awaits those who reserve the VIP package for groups of 2, 4, 6 or 8. Additional libations will be flowing throughout the night including specialty cocktails, euro-beer, and French wines.
Guests will TREAT themselves to an unexpected evening of revelry, featuring rock and roll sounds by The Upshots and a themed performance by D.Wrex. A thrilling surprise is in store for those willing to learn about their future with complimentary tarot card readings.
