Silent Movie Mondays continues at the Balboa Theatre with the iconic 1927 science fiction film Metropolis.

Set in a dystopian future, the film follows Freder, the son of the city’s powerful ruler, whose love for a working-class woman leads him into the hidden world beneath the city. Widely regarded as one of the first science fiction feature films, Metropolis helped define the genre and continues to influence filmmakers today.

Audience members are encouraged to arrive early for a pre-show organ performance by Rosemary Bailey beginning 30 minutes before the screening. After the film, stay for a post-show discussion with organist Brett Miller and a special guest film expert.
