Restaurant Spotlight: Ocean Pacific Grille

Brian Norris and Chef Charles Andres definitely have a good thing going! The Ocean Pacific Grille, located on the corner of Sixth Avenue and F Street in the historic Gaslamp Quarter, features fresh seafood prepared using the bold flavors of the Pacific Rim, wrapped in a Filipino state of mind. This dynamic approach has allowed Ocean Pacific Grille to blaze a new trail in fresh seafood cuisine.

Brian Norris, Managing Partner, and Chef Charles met each other working for the famous Roy’s restaurants in La Jolla, Rancho Mirage and Las Vegas locations. Their relationship and success working together inspired them to open a restaurant of their own that is now being hailed as the leader in Filipino Fusion, effectively raising the standard of the Pacific Rim Cuisine!

What we enjoyed:

The GQA staff (4 of us) enjoyed our lunch at Ocean Pacific Grille, which just started serving lunch at noon on Fridays and Saturdays.

• Alex enjoyed the “Blackened Ahi Sandwhich” with fresh ahi tuna, cabbage salad, tossed with a sesame soy vinaigrette on a brioche bun.

• Sherry enjoyed the “OPG Seafood Bowl” with grilled octopus, seared shrimp, calamari, soy salmon all on a bed of either white or brown rice.

• Michael and Erin enjoyed the “Ahi and Salmon Poke Bowl” with ahi tuna, salmon, daikon and shiso on a bed of either white or brown rice.

Insider Tips:

• Chef Charles Andres goes a few times a week down to the docks in San Diego to get the freshest catch to incorporate into Ocean Pacific Grille’s fine menu.

• The window into the Kitchen of Ocean Pacific Grille on the F street side of the restaurant, gives anybody a perfect view of the sous chefs filleting the fresh seafood!

• Ocean Pacific Grille is now doing delivery 7 days a week starting at noon with UberEATS and Postmates!

Ocean Pacific Grille also has a great beer and wine selection and many craft cocktails! Starting at 4:00PM the bar serves “Craftwerks,” where you can enjoy their inspired craft cocktails from Mai Tais to Margaritas. They also have a great section in their menu called, “Dailies” with things like $2 Bao Buns on Mondays, Tiki Taco Tuesdays, and more.

Their Dinner Menu is also quite exquisite with lots of Filipino fusion entrees. Fresh Fish, great flavors….and yes, there is even a KIDS Menu, where kids can enjoy a 3-course meal for just $10!

If you are looking for an inspired menu, great service and excellent culinary experience in the Gaslamp Quarter, Ocean Pacific Grille is definitely the place to go!
