The Manchester Grand Hyatt exhibits “Rabbitville” as part of their Grand Art Series

The Manchester Grand Hyatt located at 1 Market Place partnered with the Gaslamp Quarter Association and became one of the exhibition sites for “Rabbitville” for the last few weeks. Rabbitville sculptures, “Against All Odds We Thrive” by Sarah Soward, “Honoring the Disdained” by Tasha Hobbs, “Willabee” by Matt Forderer and “Nelly Ghirardelli” by Lee Sie and sponsored by Ghirardelli chocolatier graced the majestic lobby of the Manchester Grand Hyatt as part of their Grand Art Series.

“Every couple of months we do an installation of sculptures in our lobby as a part of our Grand Art Series that tie into events or themes in San Diego. For example, last July we had 9 ft tall robots for Comic Con and rainbow colored lollipops for Pride. As soon as we saw the rabbits our staff knew it would be the perfect opportunity to expose our guests to Gaslamp Quarter’s historic 150th Anniversary and “Rabbitville.” Said Caryn Laveman, Marketing Manager of the Manchester Grand Hyatt.

The spacious lobby had each rabbit on a red carpet square and a specially designed plaque talking about the artist, the story behind its creation and about the 150th Anniversary celebration. The Manchester Grand Hyatt also included a special hashtag #livinggrandsd for guests to share their best #Rabbitville sculptures on their public Instagram & Twitter accounts that would unlock special hotel offers.

“Every time I walked through the lobby guests are stopped reading the plaques,” said Laveman, “I know our front desk got a lot of questions. We also saw quite a bit of sharing on social media! (Tasha Hobbs and Sarah Soward’s rabbits seemed like the fan favorites :))”
